Small Claims Trials

At Fleet Law, we can provide representation for you at a small claims hearing.

The current limit for small claims in England & Wales is £10,000. This is small in legal terms but for many small businesses and individuals, this is not an insignificant amount. Further the small claims limit is expected to rise in the near future.

Although small claims hearings are less formal than other trials, it is a distinct advantage to have professional representation to present your case in the best possible way to the District Judge.

Legal fees are not normally awarded in a small claims hearing. However, with our skill and knowledge, it may be possible to argue for some costs if your opponent behaved unreasonably in the way they conducted their case.

We have expertise in handling a wide variety of small claims hearings including:

  • Contractual disputes
  • Claims involving business selling agents and estate agents
  • Claims involving terms of business
  • Commercial debt recovery
  • Consumer disputes

We can represent you in a variety of County Courts in the South of England including:  Gloucester, Bristol, Reading and London.

We charge a fixed fee for appearing in a small claims hearing, so there is complete transparency as to what the costs will be.
